Kids ate cereal and we had a packaged muffin. Breakfast was not what we are used to at other hotels. If you're used to Marriott and Hilton, you might not enjoy this hotel. Carpet could use a deep clean, as it smelled. Carpet had food debris next to lamp by sofa which means it wasn't carefully cleaned. Room was spacious, bathroom was clean but not sparkling clean. Just asked for IDs and handed us our key cards. After 15 min of waiting and even calling the hotel (it just rang and rang), a very grumpy lady came to check us in. Upon arrival there were no employees anywhere. However, everything else about it was just OK. It was definitely convenient to the airport. We chose this hotel for its proximity to SLC Airport. We usually stay in Marriott, Hilton, or Hyatts. This was the first time our family stayed at a Comfort Suites. So the rhetorical question is whether or not COVID is still being used as an excuse to save money or if it is because of a lack of cleaning personnel.… The rest were maskless, and it was a mosh pit in the breakfast area. Perhaps one of every 20 guests wore a mask. Only one staff member wore a mask during our stay. As for the COVID threat as it relates to cleaning and protecting guests, none of the cleaning staff observable in the hall wore a mask or gloves. Had that courtesy been extended, it would have made a significant difference in our attitude. In a drawer! This policy should be posted in writing at the front desk, explained on check-in and posted in a visible location such as a room’s bathroom. After looking around, we finally found a small laminated card hidden in a drawer that explained the policy. She said there was or should be a card in the room on the desk or the bedside table that explains their policy. The next two days our room was not cleaned (a burgeoning mess), and so on our last frustrating day, we called the front desk to complain and were told that it was up to us to request service before 11 a.m. We returned to a mostly clean room (there was dried blood on one mattress pad and covering as shown in the photos). Thinking the do-not-disturb sign may have been the reason, we asked the front desk clerk on our way out the second day of our stay to please clean our room. and when we returned that evening, our room was not cleaned. We arrived late for a four-day stay and put a “do not disturb” door hanger on the door the first night. I called the hotel in advance of booking a stay and asked about the cleaning policy and was assured they clean the rooms daily. This may be a corporate policy, but in my opinion and my traveling companion’s opinion, this hotel went out of its way not to tell guests that rooms won’t be cleaned unless you ask, and ask before 11 a.m. Bad: Hidden and disingenuous COVID cleaning policy. Good: comfortable beds refrigerator, microwave fairly quiet given the location to the interstate and airport.
